Lesson 17: Intro Variation 3 - The Hammerlock

For those of you who want to begin your first dance with a more elaborate entrance, this is the intro variation that you should learn! This variation can also be used in the middle of your dance as a awesome highlight.

Don't Forget ...

  • Leader, before you lead your partner into the hammerlock position, remember to turn your partner first before you rotate your body.

  • Make sure to relax your arms and fingers to allow a smoother rotation into the hammerlock position. Leader, remember to keep your hands low (in front of your waist and your partner's lower back).

Helpful tips

  • Tell your DJ or band when to begin playing your song. Do you want the music to start as you enter the dance floor? Or do you want it to start when you are already on the dance floor?
